讲座题目:On the Unsteady Interaction between Turbulence and Flexible/Rigid Structures

讲座嘉宾:Leonardo P. Chamorro,博士,美国伊利诺伊大学厄巴纳-香槟分校副教授

报告时间:2018126日(周四)下午2:00-3:30

报告地点:勤学楼5208

Abstract:

The interaction between turbulence and structures involves dynamics characterized by multiscale, nonlinear processes. Despite its complexity, close inspection on selected problems reveals common and distinctive effects of turbulence. Dr. Chamorro will talk about his group efforts on:

i) using of bluff-body wake and turbulence for improved locomotion;

ii) characterizing the flow-structure interaction of flexible plates;

iii) characterizing particle dynamics for mixing enhancement;

iv) inspecting flow and wave effects on offshore wind turbines,

v) uncovering the coherence of power fluctuations of wind turbines.

报告人简介:Dr. Chamorro is faculty in the department of Mechanical Science and Engineering in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is also affiliated to the departments of Aerospace Engineering, and Civil and Environmental Engineering. His research interests include experimental fluid mechanics, turbulence, wind energy, marine and hydrokinetic energies, flow-structure interaction, particle transport, and boundary layer processes. He has published 63 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals and is serving as Associate Editor of the Journal of Energy Engineering, and the Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy (JRSE, starting Jan 2019), as well as academic editor and member of the editorial board of the journal Energies. He is also an active reviewer of 29 leading peer-reviewed journals. He leads the Renewable Energy and Turbulent Environment group, where developed a versatile experimental approach that combines state-of-the-art techniques, including 2D/3D PIV, computer vision, and 3D particle tracking velocimetry.
